The symptoms are there: headaches, lethargy, and constipation. Your body is trying to tell you that something isn’t right, but you don’t have time to stop, you have kids to care for, work to go to and a whole to-do list that isn’t half way complete.

But the human body does not accept excuses; although it is roughly 75 percent water, we are constantly losing water throughout the day and unless we replenish, the dehydration can become severe and even require medical attention.

The same can be said for your spiritual life. Your faith needs to be fed every single day. No excuses. Think with me… you are constantly fighting off doubts, facing challenges and having to overcome situations that only God can help you through. There are days that you know you only got through because of your faith and days that you even wonder if your faith will be able to carry you through!

Spiritual dehydration is real and its effects can be devastating. Just as your physical body can lose strength when not fed, your spiritual life and defense against Satan can also lose strength when your faith is dehydrated. In fact, Satan has free access to those who do not care for their faith.

So where does your spiritual food come from? From reading God’s Word. We don’t read the Bible just because it is what believers do. Or because we are Christian. We read it in order to nourish our spirit.

“Blessed is the man … {whose} delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1: 1,2)

Just as you eat at least three meals a day – spiritually speaking you must do the same. Reading your Bible on a Sunday only, is just not enough! If Jesus made a point of taking time out to invest in His Spirit, how much more should we!

My tip: Wake up 30 minutes before your regular time and offer those minutes to the Lord.

Your mind is fresh and ready to hear His voice and also mind and to bless your day.

May the God of the Bible bless you.
