Have you ever looked at a person and just through their face you can see that they are angry and bitter. It happens a lot as people age, though it is not only older people that are bitter. But there are indeed people who you can look at their face and the pain and hurt shows. It’s like the person is carrying the pain on the surface.

Bitterness is something that you can either carry with you for life, or choose to let go of. Really it’s up to you. You can be mad at the world and blame everyone and everything around you for your frustrations, or you can let it go. The Bible says,

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. (Ephesians 4:31)

You see, it says to put it away from you. That means that you have the power to drive it far away. Of course on your own, you may not be strong enough. But God gives the strength to let go of bitterness. The only thing He will not do is force you to let it go. You have to decide to do it.

By the way, it’s important to remember that you don’t have to feel it to do it. You have to make a choice. Don’t wait until you “feel” that the bitterness is gone. Simply determine to let it go and stop dwelling on whatever was causing the bitterness in the first place. After you make the decision, God will help to make it a reality.

May the God of the Bible bless you
