Today I want to clarify something about the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God is not a ghost. He is not an emotion either. God the Spirit is God Himself. For example, if you have a son or daughter, your child is who you are. Your child has your features, has your character, has your habits, and many times even talks, walks, and does many other things like you. Why? Because they were born from you and you are inside of them. That’s why people say, like father like son.
When you receive the Holy Spirit, you are like God, in the sense of happiness, prosperity, health, peace and salvation. Jesus said:
Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Romans 8:9
Many are those who go to church, they praise and worship and even preach, but because they do not have the Holy Spirit they do not belong to God. I do not belong to God because I preach, or because of my title, but I belong to God because I have His Spirit. I have His peace, self control, discipline, etc. And this is the stamp, the Seal of God.
When a person truly has the Holy Spirit, it is not shown by outward acts of boastfulness or extreme behavior like falling on the ground and shaking and screaming. When a person has the Holy Spirit, they have the Spirit of Power and began to spiritually look like their Father (God).
Let us continue seeking Him with all our strength throughout the last week of this Fast of Daniel, so that by the time it ends, you can truly say, “Like Father, Like Son”
May the God of the Bible Bless You
Bishop Bira Fonseca
Amen!
Amen Bishop, I feel as though I’m growing every day. I always thought God knew my heart, but how could he, I didn’t know my own heart. Since I started coming to Universal Church I have learned so much, I’m really getting to know God and I have a relationship with him. I was told just last week that I look happy. I can’t tell you when the last time I was truly happy. Thank you Universal Church Bishop Bira and Pastor Phillip….
Amen thank you Bishop for sharing the teachings on how to receive the Holy Spirit
Praise God, thank you, Bishop, I receive. I’m seeing changes in myself and my sisters home, I’m so grateful that I’m getting my strength back. I still believe the Lord is having me to move to Houston. I moved to Dallas 40 years ago from Wisc. with my small children, I was trying to get to Houston but only had enough to come here. I haven’t experienced the power of God like this in years, and I know I still have so much to learn and I’m yearning for a deeper relation relationship wth the Lord. This morning I prayed with you I felt the yokes breaking off me. I’m really grateful for you and the ministry!
Well said Bishop!!!
