When you imagine a herd of sheep walking in a pasture, you normally imagine a shepherd there to guide them. Because sheep need the shepherd to guide them and keep them safe. Otherwise they would quickly fall into harms way. A good shepherd will go out of his way to protect his sheep. He knows they are his responsibility and he will not allow them to be attacked or destroyed.

Even the Lord Jesus knew this was the case and used the example of a shepherd when describing Himself.

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” John 10:11

As the good shepherd gives his best, even his life to protect the sheep, in return the sheep give to the shepherd. The sheep give wool to help the shepherd make clothes, they provide milk, and of course they can provide meat.

So the shepherd gives for the sheep and the sheep give to the shepherd.

The same applies in our relationship with God. Jesus is still the Good Shepherd. And He is willing to give us whatever we need. But we need to also be good sheep and be willing to give to Him whatever He asks of us. Our lives focus should be on what we can do to please Him more? What does the Shepherd what from me? What is He asking of me?

If you are willing to give your all to the Shepherd, He will give you what you need.

May the God of the Bible bless you
