I want you to read this verse below, then I will explain to you how it applies to you today.

“Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her and lay with her, and violated her.” Genesis 34:1-2

Dinah was Jacobs daughter. Jacob and his family lived outside of the town. Their life was not the same as the people in the city. They served God, while the people in the city, did not. As long as Jacob and his family stayed outside the city, everything was fine in their life. But the moment his daughter decided to go spend time in the city with the “daughters of the land” (which represents those who live a worldly life), she got raped.

In the same way, many people think that a life with God is too dry or boring. So after being in the faith for a while, they want to experience the world. They want to go spend time with the “daughters of the land”… go out to nightclubs, drink, smoke, gamble, sleep around, etc. And what ends up happening is the same thing that happened to Dinah… they destroy their life.

God wants to keep you safe. He wants to protect you. But not even He can protect you from your own bad decisions. You have to choose to follow Him and stay faithful to Him. But to do so, you need to stay out of the “city”. Don’t get mixed up in the worldly things. Stay with God where it is safe.

May the God of the Bible Bless You
