How do people treat the child of a rich and powerful person? Extremely well. Imagine the daughter of the president or the son of the richest person in the world… Just because of the name of their parent, they automatically get treated special.

Now imagine the Son of God Himself… how could He have demanded to be treated? He could have made everyone bow down and worship Him (which He deserved and still does), but He did not. He actually refused to accept praise when people so freely offered it. Many times, right after performing a great miracle, He actually told the person to make sure not to tell anyone. For most of us, that makes no sense. If you do something so big, why not get the credit for it? But Jesus did not want credit, He wanted to please the Father.

Each one of us needs to be extremely careful with pride. Because it can ruin everything. It can cost you to lose everything and even cost you your salvation.

The Word of God is clear about how God views pride, when it says;

“God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

To resist means to push away, to avoid, to not associate with. God can not accept or ignore pride. He pushes it away from Him. But to the humble, He gives grace, favor and undeserved mercy.

That’s one of the mysteries of faith. Faith doesn’t boast itself, but God recognizes it and causes it to shine. Pride boasts itself, but God despises it, and throws it down, where it belongs.

Always be humble, and be willing to learn, improve and get better, and God will give you favor in this life, and eternal life in the future.

May the God of the Bible bless you
