When serious problems come your way, who do you usually blame? For example, if you lose a loved one unexpectedly, or get laid off at work, or total out your car, or something else serious… who do you blame? Most blame God. They say, “why did you allow this to happen to me? What have I done to deserve this? Why would you put this weight on me?” And many things like that.

But when did Jesus ever say that He came to put a heavy weight upon you? He did say that He would give you a burden, but look at what kind of burden He said He would put on you…

“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:10

Jesus’ burden is easy and light. It is not heavy and difficult to carry. So when things like cancer, HIV, violence, rape, unfaithfulness in the marriage, rebellious children, emptiness or suicidal thoughts come upon you, you need to recognize that that kind of burden did not come from God. That is a heavy burden that is difficult to carry, and Jesus would never give such a burden to anyone.

God’s desire is to lift the heavy burden off of your shoulders and replace it with one that is very light. His basic request is obedience. He wants us to follow His instructions and do them as He teaches us the way. And if we are willing to do so (which means we take upon our self the light burden of obedience), then He will take away the heavy burden of the problems in our life.

But the only question is, are you ready to exchange the burden?

May the God of the Bible Bless You
