If someone says something to offend you, what is your desire? To say something to offend them even worst. If someone puts their hands on you, what is your desire? To hit them harder than they hit you. If someone gets you fired from your job, what’s you desire? To get them fired or else get revenge.

Human nature’s desire is always to get even, or hurt the one that hurt you. But that is flesh. That’s what satan wants you to do. He wants you to use your feelings in the moments that you are most frustrated, so that you can do more damage than good. He knows that acting on impulse (flesh) will only cause harm, so that’s exactly what he wants. The scriptures say,

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Romans 8:9

The “if” in that verse is very important. You are not in flesh IF the Spirit of God dwells in you. The spirit refers to the mind. And that’s what you have to use when dealing with problems in life. Acting on how you feel is never the way to solve problems. Faith is intelligent. Faith thinks. Faith rationalizes before acting. And in the end, faith makes the right decision. It doesn’t matter what the heart wants, when you obey the mind, you will always go farther. And not only that, you will solve problems.

May the God of the Bible Bless You
