Today is Independence Day, and most people are preparing for their celebrations, family barbecues and putting on their American Flag t-shirts to show their patriotism. But my question is, though you celebrate the freedom of the country, are you yourself really free. Are you free from your problems, free from addictions, free from depression, free from a broken family, free from debt, free from spiritual oppression and anything like it?

It’s easy to celebrate and be happy for a day, but what is your life like after all the fireworks are over? The Word of God says:

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:17

This means there is only one way to have true independence (liberty), and that is when you have the Spirit of the Lord. The Holy Spirit makes a person truly free. He will set you free from all the problems that I listed above and give you inner peace and joy. This is the real joy that doesn’t disappear when the celebrations are over.

My dear friend, there is nothing wrong with you having a dinner with your family or even being happy for the independence of your nation. But do not be deceived by the excitement of the day. Fight for your own independence from the works of darkness and you will have the greatest reason of all to celebrate.

Then your Independence Day will be EVERYDAY.

May the God of the Bible Bless You
