Imprisonment is something that many people find themselves dealing with. You might not be in a prison system but you might be imprisoned to something in your life that is caging you and holding you back from living your best life.

In Houston, TX we have 8 prisons that we visit on a daily basis. We opened a few churches inside of prisons last year and this year we will be opening more churches inside of prisons. We have two pastors in Houston that their ministry is dedicated to preaching in the prison churches. On one of my prison visits to pray for the inmates, a female inmate told me that she has been locked up twice. She said that she is inside of an actual prison, but her mom is also in prison. Her mom is not in the prison system but due to her daughter being locked up she became a prisoner herself. It is as if she sentenced herself to house arrest. She does not leave the house and doesn’t live her life anymore. Any mother can feel her pain. A mother doesn’t give birth to have their child locked up inside of a cage.

In the Bible, when Peter was incarcerated the church prayed for him.

Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. Acts 12:5

Everyone has someone that they know who is in prison. Maybe not incarcerated in the prison system, but is imprisoned to addictions, alcohol, drugs, rebelliousness or something that is holding them back. In life our salvation comes first, but second comes our family. No amount of money, job, or position is more important than family. Don’t ever put your family in third or fourth place. The correct order is;

1st place- God

2nd place- Family

And even within the family there is a correct order. First comes the spouse, not the children. Many mothers despise the husband because of the children. However they tend to forget that soon the children will grow up to live their own life. So the union between husband and wife is the most important.

A family with the correct spiritual structure and with the right values will flourish. So if you want to be set free from the prison of a miserable, unhappy family. Make sure you have the order correct.

May the God of the Bible bless all of you!
