We’ve all seen it before… it’s Sunday morning and you are sitting there in service (because someone forced you to be there) and that lady next to you begins singing super loud and clapping and sometimes even rolling on the ground screaming, “praise the Lord, Hallelujah!” You are thinking to yourself, “that’s a little weird”… but you don’t say anything. All you know is that that is not something you want to do yourself.

But what is that all about? It’s emotion.

Emotion is something satan uses to trick human beings and convince them of something just because they feel it. Many are those whose whole faith is build on emotion. It’s built on how they feel. If they go to a church and they “feel the presence of God” then they are sure that there is an “anointing” in the church. But the day that they receive a prayer and feel nothing, they become sad and filled with doubt.

Emotions are like smoke. They don’t last and they are unreliable. They will never sustain you in the time of trouble.

That’s why in The Universal Church, we are very frank with you and we don’t try to make you “feel good”. We want you to BE GOOD (meaning to have a blessed life) not just a good feeling. And the only way to do that is through faith, not emotion. Faith is assurance, emotion is wavering.

The Word of God speaks about emotion when it says;

“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9

The heart represents emotion. It is deceitful and can not be trusted. So don’t make any decisions in your life based on feelings. Whatever you do or don’t do, do because of faith, assurance and conviction, and God will honor it. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Assurance. You don’t need to feel Him or feel anything. To receive Him, you just need to obey Him and believe.

May the God of the Bible Bless You
